
As the world’s most popular football match, El Clásico represents a powerful moment for consumer engagement. LALIGA's challenge was to raise awareness and excitement around the first El Clásico of the season specifically within the UK, a highly competitive football market dominated by Premier League coverage.

To spotlight El Clásico in the UK, we developed a multi-channel comms plan blending talent access, fan storytelling, listings coverage and data-led content. This included a virtual interview with football legend Claude Makelele, offered to Sky Sports and LiveScore, to drive a mix of online and social coverage.
We sent media and influencers to the Barçelona and Real Madrid Peña fan groups in London to capture authentic supporter led content, while data insights from Aaron W Data on TikTok brought key match storylines to life. Listings outreach further amplified visibility across national and sports outlets, directing fans to watch the game on Premier Sports.



We achieved 19 pieces of online coverage, reaching a combined audience of 150 million, with placements in Sky Sports, talkSPORT, The Standard and The Independent.
On social media, 13 posts generated over 3 million views and engagements, including a number of posts from Metro Sport, who have 600k+ followers. By combining expert voices, fan experiences and relevant storylines, we successfully elevated El Clásico’s profile among UK football audiences.
